Locum Tenens FAQ

What is locum tenens?

Locum tenens is Latin for "one holding the place of." In healthcare, a locum tenens provider is a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant that holds a temporary position (short or long term), usually for an absent provider, or while a facility is searching for a permanent solution. Ultimate Locum Tenens is an expert healthcare staffing service that uses an innovative process to find our healthcare clients the Ultimate Fit.

Why do Hospitals and healthcare practices use locum tenens physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants?

There are a number of reasons that hospitals may enlist the use of locum tenens. Some of these might be coverage due to full-time staff retiring, filling in while an organization searches for a replacement provider, help during an unexpected absence of providers, or full-time staff being sick or on vacation.

How long are locum tenens assignments?

Locum Tenens assignments can be short-term or long-term. Assignment length is determined by your needs and can last from a couple shifts to several months or longer.

Will providers be covered by medical malpractice insurance?

Ultimate Locum Tenens provides top-rated professional liability coverage for the physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants we place.

Does Ultimate Locum Tenens only staff temporary positions?

No. We concentrate on placing physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in locum tenens assignments but also provide temporary-to-hire and direct-hire services.

What is Process Adapt?

With Ultimate Locum Tenens' exclusive "Process Adapt" system we learn exactly what you are looking for in your candidates. By continually adapting to our client's perception of quality, we are able to screen and interview providers the way our client would. Once a provider is placed in your hospital or medical facility, we continually take your feedback to better match candidates to your organization.

What is the Ambassador Program?

An innovative process designed to engage the hearts and minds of Ambassadors (the temporary providers who represent Roth Staffing) and enable them to own the outcome of their work assignment. When we place a nurse practitioner or physician assistant on assignment, they become an "Ambassador" of our company. This is important to our healthcare clients because all of our Ambassadors represent our Mission, Vision and Values, as well as our Purpose, "to make life better for the people we serve." With these values embodied in the practitioners, they are able to concentrate their focus on helping patients.

Will my provider receive any benefits from Ultimate Locum Tenens while on assignment?

Through our Ambassador Program our nurse practitioners and physician assistants are eligible for various benefits including medical, dental and vision. When practitioners are better taken care of and better connected they are better able to help patients with what they need.
